Race Track of AMA Supercross

The race track of Supercross is built inside a closed enclosure within the premises of a sports stadium, made with piles of dirt, and is completely different from motocross. The length of the track depends upon the size of the stadium.

The race track consists of many obstacles and challenges for riders, including whoops, turns, and single/double/triple jumps, which make the event enticing and full of energy for the spectators.

It takes approximately 26 million pounds (5500 cubic yards) of dirt to build the race track for the supercross. The dirt used to build the track can be a combination of soft/hard dirt, soil, sand, and mud. On average, it takes 4 to 5 days and 20 to 25 crew members to build the supercross race track with the help of bulldozers, tractors, excavators, and trucks with loads of dirt.

Along with the track, the organizers have to build a metal kickoff gate, towers for managing, scoring, and observation, and a finish line. Thousand of plywood sheets are laid on the surface of the stadium to preserve the original surface from any damage.
