Most people get confused between Supercross and Motocross and think of them as the same thing, but let me clear things out for you they are not similar to each other. supercross and motocross are entirely two different off-road motorcycle racing disciplines.

What is supercross?
Supercross is an off-road motorcycle race held in closed sports circuits/ stadiums, founded by AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) in 1974, and began with its inaugural season in 1974. The race track of the supercross is built with huge amounts of dirt, containing steep jumps, sharp turns, and straight patches. Supercross riders compete in two classes 450cc and 250cc class featuring bikes from top motorcycle manufacturers of the world; Honda, Husqvarna, Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM, and Suzuki. Bikes used in supercross are almost stock, However, only one component, the suspension of the bike is tuned according to the rider’s needs.

What is the difference between supercross and motocross?

The prominent difference between both disciplines is the race track of both races, Supercross, as mentioned above, supercross is held in closed circuits/stadiums on a purpose-built track made with dirt on the other end motocross tracks are built on outdoor natural dirt tracks, and contain many obstacles like double jumps, single jumps. Motocross tracks are also longer and wider than the supercross tracks, the only similarity between both races is that they both feature dirt bikes and dirt tracks.
